Close to 550 pounds of food were donated by Woodland Baptist Church to the Rescue Mission in their annual Souper Bowl of Caring on Sunday, Feb. 5th. The food included extra-large cans of vegetables, fruit cocktail and chili as well as spaghetti, rice, macaroni, and pinto beans. The food filled up the entire car of Lance Mayes, Associate Pastor of Community Engagement, who sponsored the event and delivered the food. The Mission was excited to see so much food! Thanks to Woodland Baptist Church members and youth for all they did to make this project happen! Souper Bowl of Caring is a nation-wide event that empowers youth and unites communities around the time of the Big Game to help those in need. In 2017, over 3300 participating groups collected over $6 million in cash and food items for area charities. Read more HERE.
